What the HGP Actually Is
Maryland law prohibits carrying a handgun in public without a Wear & Carry Permit. We'll explain exactly what the permit authorizes, who qualifies, and how it relates to - but differs from - the HQL.

Maryland Firearm Law
What you can and can't do with a permit, where carry is prohibited, how SB1 restrictions affect permit holders, and the legal framework every carrier must understand before leaving the house armed.

The 4 Safety Rules
The non-negotiables that underpin every skill in this course. We build everything else on top of these.

Handgun Mechanisms & Operation
How handguns function, how to handle them safely, and the hands-on skills required to operate your firearm confidently under any condition.

Defensive Mindset & Situational Awareness
Carrying a firearm is a daily responsibility, not just a permit. We'll cover the mindset, habits, and awareness that responsible carry actually demands.

Live-Fire Qualification
Maryland requires a demonstrated proficiency score of 70% or better. We'll prepare you thoroughly - then put you on the range ready to qualify with confidence.

The Application, Step by Step
Fingerprinting, the MSP Licensing Portal, your passport photo, the $75 fee, realistic timelines, and exactly what happens after class - no surprises.
16 hours of classroom instruction and range time. All equipment provided. No prior experience required. Completing this course also satisfies Maryland's HQL training requirement.
